I recently sat in a Diversity and Inclusion town hall meeting and the key takeaways from one of the company's Vice Presidents were:
Find your authentic voice >> Bring your "whole" self to work. When you don't, you leave out the best parts of what makes you who you are and as a result, we all lose out.
Bring others with you regardless of their background >> Be an ally of another demographic. We should support the advancement of everyone, as each individual has a unique struggle that makes them feel not included.
Look for ways to do your part; we are all leaders and have an opportunity to make a difference >> Discrimination should not be tolerated and we should spring into action when you observe the behaviors that promote it.
There were a lot of topics discussed during the town hall meeting but these are the ones that resonated with me the most. My charge for all of us is to apply these in our daily walks of life and to not let inclusion be a program or a flavor of the month, but key fundamental to how we work, play and live.
