There will always be more great ideas than we have the capacity to execute. So focus on the most important objectives that give the highest returns.
The most liberating word we can use is “No” and a common exercise that leaders do for new team members is to load them up so that they can measure their “water level”. There is an old saying, “water will find its own level” which means everyone is considered to be a container and if you pour water in, then that water will rise up to the fullest potential of the container.
I was talking to a colleague yesterday and they mentioned that they were overloaded at work. My perspective to them was to start respectfully saying no or at least get an understanding if their work product expectation should focus more on QUALITY or QUANTITY.
