ashalim-solar_1 ashalim-solar_1 1/1 ASHALIM SOLAR THERMAL POWER PLANT Contributing Re.engineer: Kate Scarcella CHALLENGE The Ashalim Solar Thermal Power Plant in Ashalim, Israel has, as of April 2019, started commercial operations. this first of a kind unit is powered by 51m tall Solar Receiver Steam Generator which sits atop a concrete tower to create the world's tallest Concentrated Solar Power Tower. While similar units were assembled piece by piece on top of an existing tower, the height and technical difficulty of this design made that implementation impractical. SOLUTION To meet the challenge, the SRSG was built at ground level while the tower and the rest of the plant were built alongside it. It then slid along rails into the tower and lifted to its final height, creating the massive 251m tall structure. Being the first of a kind design and the part of the project that was perceived as the largest risk from a technology standpoint, this Engineering team had a challenge ahead of it to meet the project schedule requirements, during both the design and construction phases. By creating a culture of collaboration, transparency, and personal ownership, the SRSG team was able to successfully navigate many technical issues which lead to a solid design and smooth construction and commissioning phases. RESULT The relationships and personal responsibility that were forged during the design phase carried over into site support, even with a 7-hour time difference, allowing the site team to work hand-in-hand with Engineering in the United States to resolve issues as they came up. In the end, the SRSG was ready early as compared to the rest of the plant and operates with a high level of performance, in many ways, exceeding the expectations of the original design concept.

privacy Introduction Re.engineer, Inc. (“Re.engineer”) takes the private nature of your personal information very seriously. Please read this notice very carefully. Website Visitors Like most website operators, Re.engineer collects non-personally-identifying information of the sort that web browsers and servers typically make available, such as the browser type, language preference, referring site, and the date and time of each visitor request. Re.engineer’s purpose in collecting non-personally identifying information is to better understand how Re.engineer’s visitors use its website. From time to time, Re.engineer may release non-personally-identifying information in the aggregate, e.g. by publishing a report on trends in the usage of its website. Re.engineer also collects potentially personally-identifying information like Internet Protocol (IP) addresses. Re.engineer does not use such information to identify its visitors, and does not disclose such information, other than under the same circumstances that it uses and discloses personally-identifying information, as described below. Gathering of Personally-Identifying Information Certain visitors to Re.engineer’s websites choose to interact with Re.engineer in ways that require Re.engineer to gather personally-identifying information. The amount and type of information that Re.engineer gathers depends on the nature of the interaction. For example, we ask visitors who sign up for Reengineer.co to provide a username and email address. In each case, Re.engineer collects such information only insofar as is necessary or appropriate to fulfill the purpose of the visitor’s interaction with Re.engineer. Re.engineer does not disclose personally-identifying information other than as described below. And visitors can always refuse to supply personally-identifying information, with the caveat that it may prevent them from engaging in certain website-related activities. Aggregated Statistics Re.engineer may collect statistics about the behavior of visitors to its websites. For instance, Re.engineer may monitor the most popular articles on Reengineer.co. Re.engineer may display this information publicly or provide it to others. However, Re.engineer does not disclose personally-identifying information other than as described below. Protection of Certain Personally-Identifying Information Re.engineer discloses potentially personally-identifying and personally-identifying information only to those of its employees, contractors and affiliated organizations that (i) need to know that information in order to process it on Re.engineer’s behalf or to provide services available at Re.engineer’s websites, and (ii) that have agreed not to disclose it to others. Some of those employees, contractors and affiliated organizations may be located outside of your home country; by using Re.engineer’s websites, you consent to the transfer of such information to them. In addition, in some cases we may choose to buy or sell assets. In these types of transactions, user information is typically one of the business assets that is transferred. Moreover, if Re.engineer or substantially all of its assets were acquired, or in the unlikely event that Re.engineer goes out of business or enters bankruptcy, user information would be one of the assets that is transferred or acquired by a third party. You acknowledge that such transfers may occur, and that any acquiror of Re.engineer may continue to use your personal and non-personal information only as set forth in this policy. Otherwise, Re.engineer will not rent or sell potentially personally-identifying and personally-identifying information to anyone. Other than to its employees, contractors and affiliated organizations, as described above, Re.engineer discloses potentially personally-identifying and personally-identifying information only when required to do so by law, or when Re.engineer believes in good faith that disclosure is reasonably necessary to protect the property or rights of Re.engineer, third parties or the public at large.
